Project Description:

Carolina TEA supported the Palmetto Infrastructure DB Team through the successful pursuit and development of Bridge Package 16 DB. Five bridges are included in the project: SC-124 over Gregory Creek, US-123 North and Southbound Bridges, SC-183 over Gregory Creek and S-183 over Twelve Mile Creek.

In a competitive bid, Carolina TEA partnered with multiple local subconsultants and developed plans and quantities for this design- build bridge package to put together the lowest bid at $31.9 million ($13 million less than the second-place bidder).

Each site includes bridge, roadway, and hydraulic design, survey, utility coordination, public involvement, NEPA documentation, geotechnical investigations and design, ROW acquisition, and construction services. Carolina TEA is leading a host of subconsultants to produce the work on an accelerated schedule. SC124 over Georges Creek RFC plans were released 60 days after NTP, including 25 days for reviews. RFC plans for the remaining four bridges will be completed within 12 months of NTP, and we anticipate construction of all bridges to be completed in 35 months (17 months ahead of schedule).
